THE PABOUK CONCEPT : THE ORIGINS

INSPIRATION : Catboat rigging is very popular on the East Coast of the United States (Boston, Mystic Seaport, Cape Cod, etc.). Catboats can also be found in the paintings of the famous American painter Edward HOPPER (1882 – 1967).

CREATION : Antoine Carmichaël took up the lines of the exceptional hull of the Vadcar (*) for his first model, the Pabouk 260. This hull shape is now the signature of the Pabouk.

DESIGN: Based on the drawings of Antoine Carmichael, the creator of the range, the architect Marc Lombard drew up the plans for the Pabouk 360, Love and 700.

THE PABOUK CONCEPT : THE PRINCIPLE OF THE FORMULA

The success and performance of the Pabouk is based on the combination of heavy displacement thanks to liquid ballast and the use of the houari cat boat rig.

  • Liquid ballast - the advantages of heavy-duty movement while enjoying easy transport on the trailer (standard vehicle) and autonomous launching.

  • The Houari cat boat rig with a single sail - simplicity and safety for the solo sailor or beginner while being efficient for the amateur sailor.

  • A mast hinge allowing you to easily transport your Pabouk and prepare it for navigation in less than 30 minutes.

  • Innovations like the electric rudder to constantly improve the sailing experience.

  • Successful ergonomics where simplicity rhymes with efficiency and safety.

  • A Pabouk aesthetic that attracts sympathy on the water.

  • A manufacturing quality that makes a Pabouk a real sustainable investment, protected from fashion and sought after on the second-hand market.

  • A community of enthusiasts who meet at gatherings to share the same pleasure of sailing on a Pabouk.

"The Pabouk are small, light and transportable boats that offer the qualities of stability and power characteristic of sailing on a heavy displacement keelboat. Rigged as a cat boat , their use, simple for the beginner, offers great potential for development for the experienced sailor"   Antoine Carmichael - the creator of Pabouk

THE PABOUK CONCEPT : SAILING IN PABOUK

With more than 120 units manufactured in 20 years, the formula has shown its full interest in combining the aesthetics of the hull with the performance of the rigging with a very safe boat, even during difficult navigation.

The skipper of a Pabouk will quickly notice, once the adjustment techniques have been assimilated, that his boat sails well into the wind and, thanks to its heavy displacement, ensures good course holding, always in safety, in rough or stormy seas. A Pabouk is also very efficient and powerful when it sails into the wind. The houari rig with its peak is also a safety element allowing the peak halyard to be eased in the event of oversails (a maneuver known as the "boulonnais reef").
